Initiative seeks donations and volunteers to feed emergency officials on Thanksgiving

MILLSBORO, Del. –  A group in Sussex County is looking for volunteers and food donations to help give hot meals to our first responders who are working on Thanksgiving.  It’s part of their Blessings for Badges campaign. Currently members are working to collect canned goods while also getting volunteers on board to help provide meals for those police officers, paramedics, and other emergency officials who’ll be on duty for Thanksgiving. And won’t able to be with their families. Members say they’re looking for donations of canned greens, corn, cranberry sauce, and turkey gravy. As well as volunteers to help serve these meals on the holiday.

“Many of us are sitting at home watching TV watching football eating thanksgiving meals while they are out working protecting our communities. 95% of the meals are gong to be boxed up and delivered to each department and delivered in Sussex county,” said Blessings for Badges founder Cindi Susi.

You can drop off the donations at two locations: Milman’s Appliances in Lewes and the Delaware State Police Federal Credit Union in Georgetown. If you’re interested in volunteering you can contact Blessings for badges at 302-563-4563.
