Holiday season approaches; hot meals needed for families on Eastern Shore
SALISBURY, Md.- With Halloween in the rear view window, Delmarva is gearing up for the holidays and also making sure families in the area in need of hot meals can get them.
According to the Maryland Foodbank, over 42,000 people on the Eastern Shore are food insecure.
That’s why the say their annual “Pact to Give Back” initiative is so important.
The food bank tells us they’re looking for holiday food items like cranberries, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes and many other family favorites so they can deliver these items to families in need.
Jennifer Small the Regional Programs Director of the Maryland Food Bank Eastern Shore said, “It becomes part of our obligation to make sure that our families in need have a sense of normalcy this holiday season. If individuals aren’t looking to do food drives they can also contribute financially. For every one dollar donated to the Maryland Food Bank, we can provide three meals.”
