HALO’s bargain center bringing in funds to help with the influx of guests
SALISBURY, Md. – With the cold weather here on Delmarva, one homeless shelter is preparing for their guests to make sure they are safe and sound.
But in order for the HALO Center to keep up and running, they need the communities help through fundraising efforts.
HALO’s bargain center is making a difference for their organization through their Christmas Wonderland.
Everything inside the thrift store is donation based. All of the proceeds will go directly to programs, meal items or even shelters.
HALO’s Executive Director, Celeste Savage, tells 47 ABC that now more than ever all the donations from the bargain center are crucial as the holidays are around the corner.
“Over the last several months we have been seeing an increase of homeless coming through. It looks to be in the 10-12% increase in the number of people that we are feeding into our cafe, we are over 160 guests that eat. Without the store, the customers coming, without donations, we would not be able to house the 50 women, the 45 men that we have over there so that’s almost 100 people per night,” Savage says.
We’re told you can bring any decorations that you don’t want anymore to the bargain center. As for Thanksgiving, they are in need of turkeys, green beans, pies, and stuffing. They plan to feed 260 guests.
