Election Day bringing in big bucks for local business

SALISBURY, Md. – Its not just the polls that are super busy on Election Day, its local businesses too; 47 ABC caught up with some to find out why.

Jeremy Norton, Owner of Roadie Joe’s said, “Politics are on everybody’s mind today, the good the bad the ugly.

It’s no question that the election is the talk of the town, and business owners 47 ABC spoke to tell us they’ve been super busy since some take the day off, and only expect it to pick up during watch parties or when results start pouring in.

Norton said, “We’ll get a good pop. It’s been a good lunch already. You know a lot of people have off on election day, so they go vote, they go get lunch naturally, and then they’re off the rest of the day.”

Leslie Reeves, owner of Back Street Grill says, while they’re not hosting a watch party, they’ll still see some decent profits because of her restaurant’s convenient location which makes it easy for voters to swing by and grab a bite after they cast their ballots.

Reeves said, “After people vote, they come by for beverages and a meal, and good service. We’re close to election centers. We’re in the center of town. People come here and watch the results.”

Roadie Joes, another restaurant in our area will host a watch party later on, but their owner said that its not just about the big bucks that come along with hosting these sort of events.

He says its also about sharing ideas and talking about candidates to stay informed.

Norton said, “The conversation needs to be brought up. People need to talk about it. You need to socialize. You need to know what other people’s opinions are; its important to be able to form your own.”

Whether you’re red blue or somewhere in between local restaurant owners say it’s all about coming together and sharing you voice within the marketplace of ideas — and supporting local businesses while you’re at it.
