Eastern shore residents get early start to Black Friday shopping

SALISBURY, Md. – Dozens of shoppers all across the eastern shore spent their day going store to store looking for the best deals Black Friday had to offer.

“We’re just trying to get out here, have a good time, check out some deals and all that stuff,” said one local shopper Brandt Vazquez.

From TV’s to technology– home goods and clothes, nothing was off limits for shoppers who were looking to snag the best gifts and items for themselves and their families on Black Friday.

“We started at target, then we went over across the street to Walmart, and now I’m back here. It’s a good time for me to get a jump start on my Christmas shopping for other people, but also to see what good deals there are for me,” said Adam Timmons.

Many shoppers got an early morning start to their Black Friday, in hopes of getting the hot ticket items.

“We got up at 3 o’clock ,” said Vazquez.

While others stayed in a bed a little while longer to avoid the crowds.

“It is fun, but it’s also kind of a challenge with all the crowds and stuff, that’s part of why we slept in a little bit and got a later start today, you miss out on some deals that way but you don’t have to fight the lines,” Timmons said.

But what exactly did people come to shop for?

“I came to get some 4K movies, the prices are much better, so I just thought this would be a good opportunity to get some,” said another shopper John Backert.

“Me personally, I’m looking for laptops for college and all of that stuff,” added Vazquez.

And while some stores did open on Thanksgiving, customers tell us they wanted to wait until Friday to get their shopping done so they could spend more time with their family.

“We spent it mostly with our family, because family is really important for us, but we did have to make it up today by getting up real early,” said Vazquez.

If you weren’t able to get out to any of the stores to do your Black Friday shopping, you don’t have to worry. Store employees tell us you’ll have another chance to get great gifts at a great price on Cyber Monday.
