Downtown Dover gearing up for annual Capital Holiday Celebration

DOVER, Del. –  Tis’ the season to be in downtown Dover this week for their annual Capital Holiday Celebration. Come Thursday evening,  downtown Dover’s streets will be filled with thousands of people, holiday cheer, and even an ice rink.

We’re told the event is for all ages with free cookies and hot chocolate, even a visit from Santa. The event marks the start to the city’s holiday festivities by getting everyone into the holiday spirit.

“It brings a really big smile to your face, you know, your community can actually connect and come together and really celebrate the holidays and there’s no anger, there’s no you know everyone just has that Holly Jolly feeling,” says Tina Bradbury of the Downtown Dover Partnership.

The celebration begins at 5 p.m. and to accommodate all the activities happening, the downtown area from the Post Office to Duncan Center will be closed off starting at around 4:30 p.m.
