Dover Police taking donations for 2018 Holiday Heroes program

DOVER, Del. – The Dover Police Department is now accepting donations for their annual Holiday Heroes program.

Entering its sixth year, the program allows Dover area children to pair up with a Dover Police Officer to go shopping for Christmas gifts at the Dover Target store.

In 2017, the Dover PD was able to help 60 area children and provide them with a Christmas that they likely would not have had. The police department is now launching a public fundraising campaign, with hopes of raising $5,000 by December 1st.

Donations are accepted at the Dover Police Department. If you are interested in making arrangements for donations, you are asked to either call 302-736-7130 or email mark.hoffman@cj.state.de.us. Due to new rules, the department can only accept donations in person. Donations can be made by cash, check, or in Target Gift cards. Officials say checks and gift cards are the preferred options.
