Del. State celebrates life of Ulysses S. Washington

DOVER, Del. – Thursday, Delaware State University celebrated the life of a longtime educator and prominent public figure.

Ulysses S. Washington was a beloved father, professor and college football player. He is remembered for his accomplishments, contributions and strides within the academic community.

A longtime educator, Del State officials tell 47 ABC his contributions to the University’s agricultural school led to its huge success today.

Some may even remember him as the father of american journalist Ukee Washington, a TV news anchor in Philadelphia.

He was known within the state-wide and campus community as a friend to everyone with a big personality.

Carlos Holmes, with Del State said,  “There’s a lot to celebrate with Dr. Washington. He did not take life for granted. He lived to be 98 years old and whenever you saw him he’d always say ‘it’s good to see you and it’s and be seen. He had great personality.”
