CRICKET Center becomes first child advocacy center in the state to become a satellite host accreditation
BERLIN, Md. – The CRICKET Center in Berlin has become the first child advocacy center to receive a satellite host accreditation award in the entire state.
Through this new award, the CRICKET Center can now help Somerset County’s child advocacy center get accredited as well. The Worcester County facility will act as a host and Somerset will act as a satellite station.
The CRICKET Center says they will assist them in every way possible in order to help more children. Their executive director, Wendy Myers, says, “Just because a child is born 10 miles across the county line, they deserve the same kind of services that they have here in Worcester and so Somerset County’s program was already fantastic and they do great work but we were able to assist them through additional policy and training issues needed to fulfill.”
The CRICKET Center says this was a tough application process in order get this award, it took almost a year. If everything runs smoothly, Somerset County could get accredited in the next two to four years.
