Cambridge man looking to take kids in need on Christmas shopping spree

If you don’t have somebody to look up to, you’re going to be lost out here,” said Raymond Farrare.

Cambridge resident Raymond Farrare says he knows just how hard the holiday season can be for kids who come from low income families. That’s why last Christmas he worked around the clock to give the children of Cambridge a surprise that would last a lifetime.

“I know there’s a lot of kids that are in need,” said Farrare.

Last year, Farrare was able give close to 40 kids in need a Christmas shopping spree that they wouldn’t forget. But this time he’s looking to spread the joy even further this year and bring this tradition back to his home town.

“I’m just trying to raise funds so I can bring the same ideas and same energy to Salisbury,” said Farrare.

Farrare, a member of the LostKingz organization group, that advocates for the youth in Cambridge, says he got the idea to provide kids in need with a Walmart Christmas shopping spree after he realized how many kids don’t get the opportunity to truly celebrate the holiday.

“That’s where I come in. Like hey I see what you’re doing, you’re doing great, keep up the good work even though their home life is not the best, so that will give them some type of encouragement to keep pushing regardless of the circumstances,” said Farrare.

He says he hopes by giving back to the youth and his community, they’ll realize that they can do the same.

“To get that smile, get that feeling, and they will never forget who I am and what I did for them and how they can pass that on to when they get older,” said Farrare.

And as for the future, Farrare wants this tradition to continue to grow each and every year.

“Every year I want to go to a different place including the places that I started with until I’m able to do it in every city,” said Farrare.

Farrare  says he’s looking to provide this years Christmas shopping spree for children in Cambridge and Salisbury on Saturday, December 22nd.
