Atlantic Club hosts annual walk for recovery in Worcester County

OCEAN CITY, Md. – The Atlantic Club hosted its annual run and walk event on Saturday to raise awareness about recovery from addiction.

According to Colleen Wareing from the Atlantic Club, events like these help to bring hope for people who want to change their lives and become sober.

Wareing also said the event is a chance for people to connect with the community by doing exercise and enjoying some delicious food.

She said the event has also helped raise $5,000 dollars in the past with more funds collected this year going towards scholarships for high school students.

“It gives us an opportunity to highlight recovery,” said Wareing.

“We also raise money that helps with the club, but mostly we raise money that offers two to three scholarships a year to a local high school student for college.”

Club members said the event is typically hosted on the boardwalk, but had to change location due to a state disaster training.
