Annapolis woman facing drug charges

GRASONVILLE, Md. – An Annapolis woman is facing drug charges after police determined that she delivered illegal drugs that resulted in an overdose death.

Police say the incident occurred on October 26th, when members of the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a fatal overdose in Grasonville. Investigators located a male victim who was deceased from a suspected drug overdose.

Officials later determined that the victim had died from an opioid overdose involving fentanyl.

Based on evidence found at the scene, several witness and suspect interviews, and more, 36-year-old Laura Ferguson was named as the primary suspect in the incident. An arrest warrant was issued for Ferguson on 26 charges, including possession of narcotics with the intent to distribute and reckless endangerment.

Ferguson was taken into custody on Tuesday by police. A search of her vehicle led to the discovery of additional controlled dangerous substances and paraphernalia. Due to the allegation that Ferguson used the vehicle to deliver illegal drugs and the additional drugs found in her car, the task force seized the vehicle and will hold it pending forfeiture proceedings.

Ferguson is currently being held without bond.
