UPDATE: Victim identified in fatal Kent County crash
The driver of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet.

According to the Delaware State Police 27-year-old Davon T. Johnson was wearing a helmet while he was operating his motorcycle on the night of his fatal accident, November 21.
Sgt. Richard Bratz of the Delaware State Police told 47 ABC that during the preliminary investigation it was ruled Johnson was not wearing a helmet, however further investigation and interviews by the DSP Collision Reconstruction Unit revealed the Hartly resident was in fact wearing a helmet.
The family of Davon T. Johnson, who was the father of two, also reached out to 47 ABC to inform us that a balloon release would be taking place at the intersection of the accident on Tuesday November 27 at 5:30 P.M.

Delaware State Police have identified the victim killed in a crash on Wednesday night in Kent County.
Delaware State Police say the victim has been identified as 27-year-old Davon T. Johnson, of Hartly. He reportedly collided with a Mazda that pulled out in front of it while traveling eastbound on Forrest Avenue.
The crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.

DOVER, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that happened late-night on Wednesday, November 21 in Kent County.
According to police, a 2013 Mazda MZ3, driven by a 27-year-old male from Dover, was stopped at a stop sign on Artis Drive in the northbound lane at the intersection of Forrest Avenue and at the same time a 2000 Kawasaki motorcycle, driven by a 27-year-old male from Hartly, was traveling east on Forrest Avenue.
Police say that as the motorcycle approached the intersection, the Mazda turned left on to Forrest Avenue and directly into the path of the motorcycle causing the driver of the motorcycle to brake, lay down the bike on the left side, and slide into the driver’s side front fender and side door. The driver of the motorcycle was then ejected off of of the bike and thrown into the roadway just north of the collision.
Following the crash the driver of the Mazda reportedly drove to a residence on Sharon Hill Road before returning to the scene a short time later to identify himself as the driver of the MZ3 involved in the crash. He was not injured in the accident, but alcohol is suspected to be a factor.
The driver of the motorcycle, identified as 27-year-old Davon T. Johnson of Hartly, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are waiting to notify next of kin before identifying the victim.
Investigation and clean-up of the scene took about three and a half hours, during which the roadway was closed, however the full investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact M/Cpl.
