2018 All-Bayside Conference Football Teams Revealed
The 2018 season will be remembered as one of the best ever for at least two Salisbury schools, as Parkside advanced to the playoffs for the first time since 2008 and James M. Bennett won their first playoff game in nearly 30 years. Those efforts we’re rewarded when the Bayside Conference announced their individual awards for the season.
Bennett senior running back Saquan Cotton amassed over 1,500 total yards and led the Clippers to their first playoff victory since 1990. Cotton’s teammate Jahryn Long was selected as the Special Teams Player of the Year. Long, perhaps the most dangerous return man the conference has ever seen, won the award last year as well.
Parkside head coach Brendan Riley was awarded the conference’s Coach of the Year. Riley, now in his 11th season, led the Rams to their first playoff appearance in 10 years, falling in the regional semifinal to North Caroline. The Bulldogs are enjoying another undefeated regular season thanks in part to Defensive Player of the Year junior Kendron Wayman. Wayman anchors the defensive line of the best unit in the conference, and will lead the Bulldogs up against Elkton on November 16.
