Woman charged with assaulting deputies following vehicle search

SALISBURY, Md. – A Salisbury woman is facing charges after officials say she assaulted two deputies during a vehicle search.

The incident occurred just after 9 PM on October 10th, when deputies were searching for a suspect in a previously reported assault incident that took place on Pemberton Drive. Police were conducting a search of a vehicle for evidence relating to the investigation when the driver of the vehicle, 27-year-old Willdelys Morales Otero, took offense to the search and became disorderly.

Officials say that when they attempted to calm Otero, she scratched one of the deputies with her car keys, and spit on another deputy.

Otero was arrested and charged with second degree assault on a law enforcement officer, second degree assault, and disturbance of the peace. After an initial appearance, Otero was released on personal recognizance.
