Wicomico Co. approves design phase of the new Beaver Run Elementary School

SALISBURY, Md. – School officials in Wicomico County have finally approved the design phase for the replacement of Beaver Run Elementary School.

According to school officials, this move comes after months of looking at a design for the new facility.

According to the spokesperson for Wicomico County Public Schools, Tracy Sahler, the new design will show enough space for their Pre-Kindergarten students to learn in their own school building.

She says these younger students were temporarily pushed to the Wicomico Early Learning Center.

School officials hope this will provide more efficiency for students and teachers in the coming years.

“We’re on the campus of Beaver Run Elementary School, but another part of Beaver Run Elementary School is a couple of miles down the road back in town at the Wicomico Early Learning Center, and that’s where we have our Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 students,” said Sahler.

“Once the new Elementary school opens we’ll have enough space here for everybody,” said Sahler.

School officials also said that they will now be looking for funding to start construction, which is expected to start in March of 2020.
