Wico. Co. schools receiving $5.1 million after bond sales
The money will pay for various projects and upgrades.
WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – Wicomico County schools will be getting more than $5.1 million thanks to some recent bond sales.
The money is being divided between schools across the county including Delmar Elementary, Wicomico High School and Parkside High School. Mardela Middle and High School, along with Pinehurst Elementary, are also receiving more than $1 million each, for various projects.
Pinehurst will be getting a new vestibule to increase security and the money going to Mardela will likely make some student athletes pretty happy.
“They’ve just had a smaller field. They’ve never had never had a real legitimate soccer field. Especially they’ve never really had a track and field to run on before. Before it was just a dirt track they practiced on. But now they’re going to have a facility where they could hold meets at Mardela High School,” said Paul Butler, Director of Communications for Wicomico County Public Schools.
In addition to those school projects, more than $5.1 million from those bond sales will go towards a new Sheriff’s office and public safety building.
