Trick or treat safety tips
47 ABC – We’re almost a week away from Halloween, a holiday that draws thousands of kids across Delmarva to their local neighborhoods for trick or treating.
It’s a fun tradition but one that could get dangerous without these important tips.
For all those kiddos out there, try and stay on the sidewalks out of the street and make sure there’s always a parent with you.
And local police say before you dive into that candy make, check it first.
Lt. Dan Holland of Fruitland PD tells 47 ABC, “You definitely want a parent to check any candy before you eat it. Make sure it is in a sealed wrapper and try to avoid any homemade goodies if you don’t know who they came from or who made them.”
Drivers should also be on high alert and take extra caution when driving around Wednesday evening and parents and kids who are participating in trick or treating should wear a glow stick or bring a flashlight to make yourself more visible.
