SUN Behavioral Health open to take patients

GEORGETOWN, Del. – Help is here in Sussex County as a new facility is open to help mental health and substance use disorders.

The Georgetown location for SUN Behavioral Health has been under construction for over a year and gives the community something it’s been asking for, which is a 90-bed psychiatric hospital. They are officially accepting patients.

This 90,000 square foot facility has four different units with 24 beds in each one. It provides a full continuum of specialized care, including inpatient and day hospital services. It is fully operational 24/7 and they are ready to take in anyone that needs help. Services are available for children, adolescents, adults and seniors.

CEO Amy Wood tells 47 ABC, “We accept referrals from emergency rooms, providers, officers, and patients can just call us their selves and call SUN Behavioral Health. We have an intake area that’s managed by clinicians and nurses and also they can walk in. We can help them whether its through psychiatry and medication management but group therapy, individual, all of the services that get you to a place where you are safe and ready for healing to get to the next level of care.”

As the facility grows, they hope to have an intensive outpatient program, so patients can work with a day program, as they get back into the community.
