Slaughter Beach set to break ground on new boardwalk
SLAUGHTER BEACH, Del. – As a part of Delaware’s Bayshore Initiative, one beach town will see a brand new feature to enhance outdoor recreation.
Slaughter Beach officials are officially breaking ground on a brand new boardwalk that connects people to the Marvel Saltmarsh Preserve, to see and learn about the Bayshore ecosystem and the species that live there.
This project is continuing DNREC’s efforts to showcase what small Delaware bay towns have to offer.
“They’re just these great vistas that not a lot of people get to and it provides opportunities for maybe a little more economic development, a little bit more connection to the natural resources and other benefits to the economy that projects like this bring,” said Shawn Garvin, DNREC Secretary.
This boardwalk project was three years in the making and is a collaboration between DNREC, DelDOT and the town of Slaughter Beach.
