Shawn Porter visits cancer patients at local hospital

BERLIN, Md. –  Patients at the John H. “Jack” Burbage, Jr. Regional Cancer Center at Atlantic General Hospital got a special visit on Friday.

World Boxing Council World Welterweight champion Shawn Porter met with patients at the center and gave out roses, all to help bring smiles to their faces.

Porter made sure to take pictures with patients, show off his belt, and get everyone excited for tonight’s Baddest O’ The Beach boxing tournament in Ocean City.

One patient we spoke to says the delightful surprise was much needed on her fifth day of treatment.

Anita Roberts said, “To have someone there, and make a big fuss and be here and be supportive was very important.”

Porter said, “I like giving back, and I like helping. It’s pretty much why I do what I do.”

Porter will be a ringside guest tonight for the Baddest O’ the Beach boxing tournament in Ocean City at the convention center Friday night at 8 p.m..
