Salisbury Zoo forced to close, cancel Halloween Happening due to flooding
SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury Zoo is another organization effected heavily by the flood waters, closing down for Friday, and cancelling its planned event for Saturday.
The Halloween Happening scheduled for Saturday is now being called off, while officials decide whether to open up at all.
Both entrances to the park were totally blocked off by flood waters Friday, while the pathways were under a foot-to-18 inches of water.
We’re told the park saw little in terms of tree damage, but because of some precautions taken Thursday, like moving some animals from their exhibits. All of them are in good condition.
“We’ve done extensive checks, the animals all look good,” said Ralph Piland, the Zoo director. “We moved some of them around yesterday in anticipation of the potential emergency situation. So everything looks good, it’s mostly our pathways, some of our landscape structures that are getting damaged.”
Even though the Halloween Happening is cancelled for Saturday, it is a two-weekend event. Halloween Happening will be open to the public on Saturday the 20 from 1 PM to 4 PM.
If you want to know whether the zoo is opening Saturday, you can check out their facebook page or their website for an official announcement.
