Salisbury University Police offer safety tips following scary encounter

SALISBURY, Md. – A scary situation unfolded Saturday near Salisbury University when two men attempted to lure a female student into their car during the early hours of the morning, and now campus police are offering tips to keep you safe.

47ABC spoke with campus police on Monday, and their top tip for staying safe is if you see something, say something.

This is exactly what one Salisbury student did early Saturday morning.

According to police reports, at approximately 1:30 in the morning Saturday, a girl was walking alone near University Park when she was approached by two suspects.

Police say both men began telling the woman to get into their car, but fortunately, a second student saw what was going on and intervened.

Now that second student ended up getting hit with a bottle, but it appears that was enough to cause the suspects to flee.

The second student had to go to Peninsula Regional Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.

The Salisbury University Police Department says if you see anything suspicious going on near a university campus, or really anywhere, you shouldn’t hesitate to call police.

Lt. Dave Dalfonso with SU Police said, “Give us a call let us know what you see anytime, the more eyes that are out there, the safer everyone else is. There’s no reason, there’s police all around this area, there’s no reason that you should feel unsafe.”

Salisbury police have taken over the investigation into this incident.

The suspects in this case are being described as african-american males approximately 19 to 22 years in age, one with long dreadlocks and the other suspect with a buzz cut.

Anyone with any information about Saturday’s incident is being asked to call the Salisbury Police Department at 410-543-6222.
