Salisbury PD “Cover the Cruiser” to raise money for Special Olympics
SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury Police Department wrapped up their Special Olympics fundraising on Tuesday, with their “Cover the Cruiser” event.
People who made a donation were given the opportunity to write their names on stickers and place them on one of the departments SUV’s. Over the past year, Salisbury Police tell us they’ve raised roughly $20,000 for Special Olympics and say next year they’re looking to raise even more.
“I think our biggest thing is we’re just dreaming bigger. Anything we think can do, we’re going to try it. We’re increasing the teams for the truck pull. Events like this, cops on roof tops was a huge during memorial weekend, so that and the community itself, they’ve really helped,” said Det. Jason Caputo, with Salisbury Police.
The department says their next big event will be the Polar Bear Plunge in 2019. If you want to donate before that, they say they are still accepting donations. Contact the Salisbury Police Department to find out how to donate.
