Salisbury man sentenced on narcotic and handgun charges

SALISBURY, Md. – A Salisbury man was sentenced in a Wicomico County Court last week on narcotic and handgun charges.

21-year-old Terrell Smullen-Parsons, pled guilty to possession with the intent to distribute (PWID) cocaine, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and resisting arrest. He was sentenced to a total of 28 years, with 10 years being active incarceration in the Maryland Division of Corrections. Upon release, he will be on three years of supervised probation. Smullen-Parsons was also ordered $967 forfeited to the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office (WSCO).

The charges stem from an investigation in which Smullen-Parsons fled from deputies in December 2017, and was later found to be in possession of narcotics. Officials then say he failed to appear in court and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.

On April 26th, 2018, a deputy located Smullen-Parsons in the 1000 block of Fairground Drive, in Salisbury. He reportedly provided a false name and address to the police, and when police verified his identity and attempted to place him under arrest, he fled from the deputy.

Officers were able to locate Smullen-Parsons, and a subsequent search of his vehicle led to the seizure of cocaine, a handgun, and a large amount of cash money.

Smullen-Parsons pled guilty and was sentenced on May 18th, 2018, for the December 2017 charges. He was sentenced to a total of 10 years, with all but five years suspended in that case, on one count each of PWID-narcotic, unauthorized removal of property, and attempt by driver to elude police. He will also be on two years of supervised probation in that case.
