Salisbury man collecting donations for Florence victims

SALISBURY, Md. – Well the forecast looks pretty calm but that wasn’t the case a few weeks ago when Florence ripped through the Carolina’s.  Now with recovery efforts underway a Salisbury man who once lived in North Carolina is asking the community for donations to help those affected.

Matt Jones says he’s collecting everything from mops and cleaning supplies to help families fix up their homes to critical items such as diapers and non-perishable foods. Jones says the items will be going to Carteret County in North Carolina. He adds that even though the storm is long gone, it’s important to remember those who are still struggling, and to help out in any way you can.

“It’s just a small gesture that we can help someone else out we never know when we might be in that position. We have a last ditch effort here we’re just trying to get the word out into the community these last few days to say hey if you have a little bit of time to spare if you’re at the store and you see one of these items, if you wouldn’t mind just pitching in and bring it to one of our drop off locations,” said Jones.

If you’re interested in donating some items, you can go head the number of drop off locations in the area such as the Southern Bell Barn in Delmar, Sussex Lumber Company in Millsboro, That Furniture Store, and the Staples Insurance Agencies in Salisbury and Harrington. Jones will be accepting donations until next Tuesday
