Salisbury building demolished, beautification to take place

SALISBURY, Md. – Officials demolished a problematic building along Route 13 in Salisbury over the weekend, and now they have plans to beautify the property.

The building at the corner of East Church Street and Route 13, one of the city’s busiest intersections, was once a sex shop.

That shop was shut down years ago, but the building remained along Route 13.

Salisbury city officials saw an opportunity to beautify the area, so they tore the building down – and have plans to paint a mural along the brick wall behind it.
as well as implement other landscaping – so that when people drive through the busy intersection – they will be welcomed into the city with beautiful art.

Mayor Jake Day said, “It will take a couple of months, only a couple weeks to do the site work, but a couple months to get the artist out here working at the mural. Our friends at the Rotary Club have worked to pay for the mural and to hire the artist.”

We’re told work will begin on the property in just a matter of weeks.
