Operation “Impact” successful in Kent County

KENT CO., Del. – Delaware State Police recently implemented a multi-phase operation to work on pro-actively address crime problems throughout Kent County.

Police officials, along with the assistance of several agencies, prioritized several Dover communities during Operation “Impact”. This operation included an active warrant round-up phase that targeted individuals wanted by law enforcement, a pro-active criminal enforcement phase that targeted drug distribution and street crime, and a follow up community resource and assistance phase.

The warrant round-up phased took place on Wednesday, October 3rd, across the county. 24 people were arrested as a result of this operation. Results included 38 court capiases including failure to appear, failure to pay, and violation of probation. 11 active warrants from Troop 3 and 2 active warrants from Troop 9 were also executed. 8 new criminal charges were filed, stemming from the discovery of two active Methamphetamine labs located on Lion Hope Road in Clayton.

Troopers conducted pro-active drug enforcement in the Dover Estates, Meadowbrook Acres, and Generals Greene communities on October 5th. 6 individuals were arrested, and 7 new criminal charges were filed, 6 of which were drug related.

The final phase of the operation took place on October 6th, with the goal of explaining the reason for law enforcement presence to residents of the communities where pro-active policing was conducted on October 5th. Troopers worked on building relationships with community members by providing assistance and support in making their communities a safer place to live.

Officers also helped residents with services such as job applications, Medicaid enrollment, WIC enrollment, elder care assistance, handicapped accessibility for references, building supply resources, and obtaining smoke detectors. Troopers contacted DelDOT in reference to clearing several areas in Meadowbrook where trees and undergrowth were affecting the roadway as well.

This operation was headed by Delaware State Police (DSP) Troop 3 with assistance from numerous agencies including DSP Troop 4, DSP Sex Offender Unit (SOAR), DSP Community Outreach Unit, DSP Mounted Patrol, Capitol Police Department, Milford Police Department, Harrington Police Department, Delaware State University Police Department, Delaware Information and Analysis Center (DIAC), and Delaware Department of Corrections Probation and Parole.
