Officials kick off week-long initiative supporting after school programs

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – In Delaware, members with the First State Community Action Agency and the After School Alliance kicked off their week long initiative today to help support after school programs.  The initiative called the Lights ON After School Reading Adventure has community members and leaders in the area interacting and reading with children at six of the agencies after school locations. Officials say the campaign helps call attention to the importance of children having access to quality, affordable after school programs.

“This week we are highlighting nationwide after school programming and the safety that it provides to these children and the hours from three till six, when their parents are still working we offer homework help enrichment to those kids in those hours,” said program coordinator Kendra Harrold.

The next lights on after school reading event will take place on Tuesday, October 23, at Brightway Commons in Milford from 4:30 to 5:30 PM
