Milford woman facing charges following motor vehicle collision
MILFORD, Del. – Milford Police have arrested a woman after she reportedly hit a pedestrian and fled the scene Monday evening.
At around 6:30 PM, officers from the Milford Police Department responded to the 200 block of Northeast Front Street for a report of a motor vehicle collision. Police learned that a passenger car reportedly struck a pedestrian and then fled the scene.
The pedestrian was treated at the scene by staff from the Carlisle Fire Company and was taken to Bayhealth in Milford for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries.
The driver, identified as 25-year-old Mary N. Smith, turned herself into police on Tuesday and was charged with leaving the scene of a collision resulting in injury, failure to report a collision resulting in injury, and pedestrians have right of way in crosswalks. She was presented at Justice of the Peace Court 2, where her bail was set at $1600 unsecured. She is scheduled for an arraignment at the Kent County Court of Common Pleas in January.
