Maryland’s College Application Campaign helps students apply to FAFSA

SALISBURY, Md. – This week marks the College Application Campaign for Maryland Students, and that means schools in our area are getting high school seniors, and their parents, ready for that transition.

To kick off this week’s festivities, Monday students at James M. Bennett High school had the opportunity to apply to the Federal Application for Student Aid with the help of representatives from Wor-Wic Community College.

Bennett’s guidance department tells 47 ABC the resource helps students get ahead of the curve by walking them through the FAFSA process.

Adel Boyd, a counselor at JMBHS said, “Having this resource here at the school is basically having somebody to overlook you through your steps of preparing for financial aid. They can help you step by step with the process. All students need money for college. By coming in and doing your FAFSA, you’re basically setting yourself up to be financially prepared for next year.”

Schools recommend that you apply for aid starting now, instead of waiting until January of next year, so you don’t fall behind.

If you’re looking to apply and don’t know where to start, you can log onto to the government’s website.
