SALISBURY, Md. – “We’ve been very busy,” said Linda Prettyman who works at a local gas station tells 47 ABC business is booming.

We’re not talking gas sales. We’re talking lottery tickets.

The Mega Millions lottery is up to a grand prize of $548 million, and Prettyman says she hopes her store sells the winning ticket.

She also said, “I had one guy buy like $100 worth of them the other day.”

It seems as if everybody is buying tickets, even some who have never tried their chance at the lottery before.

Steve Weimer, a hopeful winner said, “With the possibility of doing that good. I might buy a ticket.”

The folks 47 ABC spoke to say they’ve got big plans if they win big money.

Matthew Reister, another hopeful winner said, “You’d never see me again. I would retire and buy an island and a whole bunch of classic cars. I would take a couple months off and go to France or something.”

Derrick Dale, another hopeful said, “$548 million? I would get a helicopter and just leave completely go off to myself. I would go to an island or something. Buy me a state.”

Derrick Dale said after buying an island he’d even change his name.

Others say they’ll use their winnings for reasons a little bit bigger than themselves.
