Local and federal officials conduct search of West OC home
WEST OCEAN CITY, Md. – Early Thursday morning local officials along with federal agencies were in the Oyster Harbor community in West Ocean City searching the homes of two brothers who live right next to each other. Lieutenant Edward Schreier with the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the office along with the department of homeland security and other agencies searched the homes of Samir and Basel Ramadan. The two had a run in with the law back in 2013 after police raided their home and discovered that the pair helped distribute millions of cartons of illegally imported cigarettes from Virginia to New York. Schreier couldn’t disclose many details, but he did say that there was a current investigation with the men which led to Thursday’s search.
“They had initiated an investigation which led to two search warrants being served today in oyster harbor in the Ramadan residences that are next to each other the search warrants were executed with no issue,” said Schreier.
Schrier says the investigation is still ongoing and if you have any information or tips regarding the brothers you can contact the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office at 410-632-1111
