Harrington man faces shoplifting charges

HARRINGTON, Del. – Harrington Police arrested a man on shoplifting and other related charges following an incident that took place late last week.

Shortly after 12:30 PM on October 25th, Harrington Police on patrol were called to respond to a complaint of shoplifting at the Food Lion in the Midway Shopping Center. On arrival, police located the suspect walking in the parking lot and made contact with him.

The suspect, 31-year-old Jose M. Colombo, was found in possession of a bag of items that he allegedly took from the store, without paying for them. Police also learned through a computer check that he had an active capias out of the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas for failing to pay a fine for an offensive touching charge.

Harrington Police charged Colombo with shoplifting under $1,500 and possession of shoplifting tools. He was arraigned via video phone on the capias and criminal charges and was issued a $4,030 unsecured bond and released, pending a preliminary hearing in the Court of Common Pleas.
