GrooveFEST returns to Downtown Cambridge
CAMBRIDGE, Md. – Hundreds of people made their way to Downtown Cambridge for the Annual GrooveFEST during the weekend.
The staple event brings in both national and local bands to perform all different styles of music like jazz, hip-hop and even rock-and-roll.
According to the Downtown Cambridge Executive Director, Katie Clendaniel, the music festival is a chance to help revitalize the area.
Clendaniel said the event also benefits local businesses by boosting sales.
“It’s something we re-invented last year taking over from Summer Send-Off, and we have a great musical history here and Groove City is a little nickname for Cambridge that was developed in the ’70s and ’80s,” said Clendaniel.
“So, it was a way for us to grasp a hold of that.”
Clendaniel also said the festival was moved to October due to Hurricane Florence. It ordinarily takes place in early September.
