Frederica man charged with assault following physical altercation
FREDERICA, Del. – Milford Police arrested a Frederica man on assault charges Tuesday afternoon.
Just after 1:30 PM, Milford Police were called to respond to the parking lot of the Milford Landing Shopping Center in the area of China Wok, for a reported physical altercation. Officers were told that multiple witnesses saw the suspect hit the victim inside of a vehicle.
On arrival, officers made contact with the suspect, 20-year-old Colton Pennell, and the victim, who had a visible injury to their face and lip. The victim told police that they and Pennell had become engaged in a verbal altercation inside the vehicle when Pennell allegedly began hitting the victim in the head and face.
Pennell was arrested and charged with third degree assault. Officers also learned that Pennell had an active capias for violation of probation out of Sussex County Superior Court. He was presented and received a $500 unsecured bail on the assault charge, along with a no contact order with the victim. Pennell was then committed to the Department of Corrections in default of $5,000 cash bail on the violation of probation. He has been ordered to appear in Sussex County Superior Court and Kent County Family Court at a later date.
