Delmar holds on to Lions Club trophy in rain-soaked win over rival Laurel

The Delmar Wildcats got their 19th win in a row, and improved to 8-0 on the season, beating rival Laurel 46-9 on Friday night in Delmar.

The ‘Cats got their first two scores on touchdown runs by Dante Trader Jr, and a third on a fumble recovery for score by Zach Covington to bring the score to 20-0 before the Bulldogs could blink. Laurel eventually got on the board with a safety and a touchdown run by quarterback Dalton Perdue. AJ Angello would hit Jacob Von Arx for another score just before the half to give the home team a 26-9 lead at the break. The defending champions would go on to score three more times in the second half, giving them the easy victory.

Up next, Delmar will look to remain unbeaten traveling to Laurel on Friday, while Laurel (3-5) will battle Lake Forest.
