DelDOT honoring dedication of Delaware Women’s Military Service Monument
DOVER, Del. – The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) will honor the dedication of the new Delaware Women’s Military Service Monument by releasing the Women’s Military Service (WMS) license plate for Delaware Women Veterans.
During the ceremony, the Women’s Military Service license plate for Delaware Women Veterans will officially be released, and the “DMV On the Go” mobile unit will be on site for those interested in purchasing the plates.
In order to be deemed eligible for plate purchase, please prepare to present either a DD 214 form, a Military ID card, or a DMV issued Delaware Veteran ID.
Featured speakers at the ceremony will include Sgt. Major Anna Lopez (Ret.) from the Delaware Commission on Veterans Affairs, Lt. Governor Bethany Hall-Long, U.S. Senator Thomas Carper, U.S. Representative Lisa Blunt–Rochester, and Major General Carol Timmons from the Delaware National Guard. The Delaware National Guard Band will perform the musical prelude and the National Anthem.
The Dedication Ceremony is scheduled to take place this coming Saturday, November 3rd. A Veterans Parade through downtown Dover will kick off the ceremony at 10 AM, followed by the dedication at Legislative Hall at noon. Public parking will be available in the area surrounding Legislative Hall.
The women’s veteran’s monument will be located on the northwest side of Legislative Hall, across from the Delaware Public Archives.
