Del. woman facing assault charges following altercation
MILFORD, Del. – A Lincoln woman was arrested for assault on Friday after a physical altercation broke out outside a residence.
Shortly before 9 AM, Milford Police responded to a physical altercation in the Brightway Commons apartment complex in Milford. On arrival, officers learned that the suspect had briefly been living with the victim and was moving out of the apartment.
It was then revealed that victim was reportedly on the phone with a family member of the suspect when the suspect became angry and allegedly slapped the phone out of the victim’s hand, causing damage to the phone. When the victim walked away from the suspect, the suspect reportedly threw the victim’s phone, striking the victim in the back of the head.
The victim was able to make contact with a nearby witness and used the witness’ phone to call the police. While on the phone with the police, the suspect allegedly charged the victim and punched the victim in the nose, resulting in a minor injury.
During a search incident to arrest, officers found the suspect, 21-year-old Keishae Burton, in possession of a glass pipe and digital scale. She was arrested and charged with third degree assault, criminal mischief under $1000 (damage property), and possession of drug paraphernalia- marijuana related (civil violation).
Burton was presented and committed to the Department of Correction in default of $1251 secured bail. A no contact order was also placed between the victim and Burton. Burton has been ordered to appear in the Kent County Court of Common Pleas at a later date.
