Del. State Police arrest Harrington man following reported motor vehicle theft

DOVER, Del. – Delaware State Police have arrested a Harrington man following the recovery of a stolen motor vehicle.

Police say the incident occurred shortly after midnight on Thursday, October 11th. Troopers were advised by police dispatched that Harrington Police were working to located a 2002 black Chevrolet Trailblazer that had been reported stolen.

While proactively patrolling, the trooper noticed a black Chevrolet Trailblazer traveling southbound on South Governors Avenue. The vehicle abruptly pulled into the nearby WSFS bank, and after a computer check showed the vehicle as reported stolen, the officer initiated a traffic stop.

A search of the vehicle was also conducted, leading police to locate a 9 mm Smith and Wesson handgun and a loaded 40 mm magazine.

The driver, 27-year-old Aaron L. Williams, of Harrington, was taken into custody and charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, carrying a concealed deadly weapon a firearm, possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, and receiving stolen property value over $1500. He was also arraigned on warrants by the Harrington Police for theft of a motor vehicle and driving while suspended.

He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $12,000 secured bond.
