DE Turf Sports Complex bringing in big business after one year
FREDERICA, Del. – “Its a great place to make dreams come alive,” said M&T Bank Regional President, Nick Lambrow.
The Delaware Turf Sports complex is celebrating a year of operation. Since then, it’s been nothing but positive for the community and local economy.
Lambrow also said, “To have families come together and have children come to play is really what its all about and this venue allows that to happen.”
The complex is making strides in the community by boosting the local economy and allowing kids of all ages to get out and get active.
Chris Giacomucci, the executive director of the complex tells 47 ABC the complex has seen over 117,000 visitors from tournament weekends alone, which has been a major plus for hotels in the area.
But he says its not just the business boom that keeps him doing what he loves.
Giacomucci said, “Sports have always been an important part of my life. Its a very rewarding feeling, but there’s still a lot of work ahead of us to do, growing the facility and continuing to fill the calendar with events all throughout the year.”
Because of their success, Giacomucci says they’ve been able to provide opportunities to youth from all over Delmarva. Something those in the community, like special Olympics Delaware, appreciate.
Anne Grunert, Executive Director of Special Olympics Delaware said, “A venue like turf complex is one of the best in the state if not the region. So for our athletes to be able to have the opportunity to be showcased of their skills and talents at a premiere facility like this, means the world to our athletes and coaches and families.”
