Cooler months approach, kids need warm coats

SALISBURY, Md. -We’ve experienced a bit of a cold snap these past few days, and that means many of us were breaking out the winter coats.

But some aren’t fortunate enough to own this basic necessity.

The Christian Shelter of Salisbury tells 47 ABC children especially need warm coats for when they wait for the school bus during those chilly fall mornings.

They say they’ve already got a few winter coats for adults, but they’re really looking for donations of children’s coat.

That’s because a lot of children in the shelter didn’t come prepared for the cold weather.

Sister Mary Williams said, “A lot of children came in during the summer time, so they didn’t come in with coats. We really need donations for children’s coats, children of all ages, up to 18.”

If you have any children’s coats that don’t fit your kids anymore, you are encouraged to lend a helping hand to members of your community and donate them to the Christian shelter.

If you don’t have kids coats but still want to help, they’re also looking for plus size men’s and women’s coats as well.

You can drop off donations to the center at 334 Barclay Street in Salisbury.
