Construction begins for 360° deck at Shorebirds’ stadium

SALISBURY, Md. – The recent cooler weather is definitely a sign that baseball season is winding down. But the Delmarva Shorebirds are already thinking about next season, as they start construction on their new 360° deck.

Right now the irrigation line that waters the field,  to keep it nice and green, is being moved. Officials tell 47 ABC the timeline for the whole project will be about 4 to 6 weeks, so it should be completed by the end of the year and of course that all depends on Mother Nature.

Before, fans could only go from first to third base. But this new addition will create a new viewing experience, especially for families.

“When you bring your kids out here, it’s tough to keep a 3 or 5 year old in a seat for 9 innings of baseball. It’s impossible. But you can get them to walk around the stadium. And again let them just enjoy the evening from a totally different perspective,” said Jimmy Sweet, the Assistant General Manager for the Delmarva Shorebirds.

Officials say the walkway will not be right up against the fence and there will also be a drink rail.

The Shorebirds are done for this season. Their first 2019 home game is on April 11th against the Lakewood Blueclaws.
