Caroline County man convicted on first degree assault and other charges

SALISBURY, Md. – A three day jury trial ends in the conviction of a Caroline County man on charges stemming from an October 2017 incident.

On October 25th, 24-year-old Troy Jalen Holmes was convicted by a Wicomico County jury of first and second degree assault, reckless endangerment, firearm use in the commission of a felony, wear, carry and transport a handgun on person, and illegal possession of a firearm.

The shooting incident took place during the early morning hours of October 22nd, 2017, at the Royal Farms in the 7900 block of Royalty Way in Salisbury. Police learned that Holmes allegedly pulled a handgun on a 27-year-old victim and fired at him. According to officials, no one was hit as a result of the gunshot.

Police also learned through investigation that Holmes was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to a prior felony conviction, and he was on probation at the time of the incident.

Chief Judge Kathleen L. Beckstead postponed sentencing after ordering a pre-sentence investigation.
