Berlin officials add 18 acres to town’s growth area

BERLIN, Md. – Berlin is one step closer to developing a property at one of their town’s entrances.

Tuesday night, town officials agreed to add 18 acres to the town’s growth area located at the intersection of Route 346 and Route 50.

We’re told this is the first step to annexing the property into the town.

As of right now, we’re told the property owner’s conceptual plan for the site includes adding things like an auto dealership, a convenience store, a hotel.

The overall focus is to attract more people into “America’s Coolest Small Town.”

Laura Allen, the Town Administrator said, “The point of the property, putting some kind of a visitor center or making the space available to the town for some kind of visitor attraction so some of those details still need to be worked out it’s very much a concept plan nothing’s carved in stone.”

Some of the town’s leaders believe if this property is developed it could help put Berlin on the map and promote tourism.
