Bennett starts fast, upends rival Parkside for second straight year
The James M. Bennett Clippers improved to 5-1 on the year defeating rival Parkside 21-7 on Friday night at Wicomico County Stadium in Salisbury.
The Clippers started fast, getting an 80 yard touchdown pass from Brandon Scholl to Braden Glushakow on their first play from scrimmage of the night. Parkside would even the score at 7 late in the first on a two-yard touchdown by Devian White. The teams would head into the locker rooms tied at 7.
Bennett would start fast in the second half. Parkside, attempted a squib kick, which took an awkward bounce and landed right into the hands of Clippers junior John Lowe. Lowe would race 50+ yards and be ruled out at the one yard line. Scholl would get into the endzone with a quarterback sneak on the next play, giving Bennett the 14-7 lead.
Bennett senior running back Saquan Cotton would put the finishing touches on a long drive late in the third with a tough 12 yard touchdown run. The Clipper defense did a great job in the second half limiting the Rams offense to multiple three and four and outs and preserving the win.
With the win, the Clippers have now won three of the last four matchups against Parkside.
