Wico. county council in process of approving land for public use

SALISBURY, Md. – Wicomico County Council is one step closer to potentially approving a 200 acre donation located near the Henry S. Parker Athletic Complex.

Recently the land was evaluated and was approved for use. The land was previously offered to the county last year, but had not yet been checked for contamination.

Councilman John T. Cannon says he hopes the county will use the property for a possible park or recreational spot or even a soil resource for a landfill.

Cannon said, “We have to see whether or not its going to work. It’s a huge donation if its something that you can use. That’s what our responsibility is to the taxpayers.”

Because the process is ongoing and within its early stages, the county is unsure what they plan to use the land for should they decide to jump on board and finally accept the land.

47 ABC will continue to update you on the stages as the county makes their decision.
