What Can We Expect As Fall Approaches?
Believe it or not, fall is already almost here! The first day of fall is September 22, but it’s a little different for meteorologists. For record keeping purposes “meteorological fall” begins on September 1.
Taking a look back at this summer, we had 28 days with high temperatures of 90 degrees or higher. Salisbury’s average temperature was 76.4°, which includes the high and low temperatures for the day. This makes it the 12th warmest summer on record. In terms of precipitation, we received 11.17 inches, making it the 24th driest summer for Salisbury.
The Climate Prediction Center has released their forecast for temperature and precipitation for the month of September. They are predicting above average temperatures and precipitation for Delmarva.
They have also released a forecast for meteorological fall, which runs September 1 through November 30. They are predicting above average temperatures and average precipitation during this time period.
