VIP event held to thank volunteers, sponsors in lead-up to Folk Festival

SALISBURY, Md. – Before the kickoff to the festival tonight, at the Greater Salisbury Building, Salisbury Mayor Jake Day and Maryland Governor Larry Hogan took the time to thank everyone involved at their VIP event, in the lead-up to the start of the 78th annual National Folk Festival.
The event was an hour-and-a-half long, and was really a celebration of all the hard work put in by sponsors and volunteers in preparation for the biggest event Salisbury has seen.
Day tells 47ABC this is not only a big day for the city, but also for the region.
“This is a big day for Salisbury, and this is going to be the single biggest event that we’ve ever hosted in our region. So we’re very proud of it, and we’re very excited for the great music, and crafts and arts that are getting ready to occur in our downtown.”
The city couldn’t have pulled this massive undertaking off without the help of about 2,200 volunteers that signed up, and the support of the public and sponsors, who have raised over a million dollars in the last year.
