12th Warmest Summer on Record

If you think it’s been a pretty hot summer, then you’re definitely right. Salisbury has recorded a whopping 32 days this year with temperatures at or above 90 degrees, and 6 official heat waves (3+ consecutive days with 90 degrees or higher). The first 90 degree day was back on May 12. At this point last year, we only had 25 days with 90 degree weather.
When it comes to seasonal records, the National Weather Service categorizes them into three months per season. June, July, and August will be the official summer data. So if we subtract away the 90 degree day in May and the three we’ve had so far this month, this makes it the 12th warmest summer on record in Salisbury.
NOTE: This summer would have easily made it into the top 10 warmest summers ever recorded if it wasn’t for the cool low temperatures in the 50s we had between August 23-25.
Summer officially ends September 22, so there will likely be some more 90 degree days until then, with some cool downs here and there.
